Experience That Counts

With thousands of playgrounds and millions of square feet of playground turf installed over nearly two decades, XGrass leads the market in the specifying, design and installation of synthetic turf playground surfaces.  We enjoy long-term relationships with many of the leading preschool franchises in the country and have a proven history of safety and success.

Combined with our PolyGreen Play foam padding underlayment and antimicrobial infill, our system is the safest turf play surface available today.  Our Heat Block technology is cooler too - up to 17.5°F cooler than other artificial grass systems.

Playground Surface with Concrete Border
Installation Cross Section

Over Aggregate Base with Concrete Border

Our most popular installation for playgrounds features one of our playground turf products and a 1” or 2” thick PolyGreen Play padding installed on top of a base of compacted clean aggregate stone.

When installed with a concrete border, the turf is nailed or stapled into pressure treated support boards and then infilled to eliminate any movement or shifting of the turf.

Over Aggregate Base with Mulch Border

For playgrounds being installed in more natural environments, turf systems featuring mulch borders are popular. These systems typically feature a playground turf product along with ¾” of infill and a 1” or 2” thick PolyGreen Play padding installed on top of a base of compacted clean aggregate stone.

For stability, install 24” stakes around the perimeter and then attach pressure treated support boards that will accommodate the nails or staples used to secure the turf.

Play SBR Ramp
Installation Cross Section

Over Concrete Base with SBR Ramp Edge

For playgrounds placed over concrete bases, the surfacing installation consists of our XGrass playground turf along with Envirofill infill and a 1” or 2” thick PolyGreen Play foam padding. The infill and padding combine to provide the impact attenuation properties ideal for making a play area safer.

An SBR edge ramp can be installed to meet ADA compliance and provide a smooth transition from the concrete base to the playground surface.
