The Lane is a new apartment complex in Upper Arlington, Ohio, an affluent suburb on the northwest side of Columbus. The newly-constructed building offers tenants 1-3 bedroom units, high-end finishes, a central location and a 3rd-floor rooftop courtyard.
To transform this rooftop, XGrass installed 5,000 square ft. of XGrass Superlawn Blend artificial grass and an ADA compliant, pour-in-place rubber border around the edge. After the surfacing was installed, landscaping was added and amenities like a fire pit, outdoor kitchen, and comfortable seating transformed the area into an urban oasis.
The challenge for the XGrass installation team was getting the material up to the 3rd floor. To do so, the team removed a second-floor window off Lane Ave and carried all of the XGrass materials up a ramp. The grass surfacing was then laid by hand and glued to the concrete to ensure a quality installation.
Artificial grass is becoming increasingly popular for rooftop courtyards. Previously useless rooftop spaces are now being converted into a low-maintenance, serene environment for residents to enjoy. Plus, XGrass artificial grass is safe for pets and eliminates the upkeep and allergies associated with natural grass making it even a smarter investment for community developers.
